StackUp or FitNotes?
Looking for a FitNotes alternative? FitNotes – Gym Workout Log (James Gay) is free and ad-free on Android, like StackUp, and needs no account either. The difference is what happens after the last set: FitNotes fills in your last workout, StackUp works out the next one.

Your last workout, or your next one
When you start an exercise, FitNotes fills in the first set of your last workout, and you raise the weight when your program calls for it. StackUp judges your reps against your target range and suggests the weight for next time: more above it, the same inside it, less below it. The whole rule is on this site.
Sync instead of backups
FitNotes keeps your log on the phone and moves it by backup: a file, Google Drive or Android's Google One backup. StackUp also works without an account, and if you sign in with Google, your log syncs between phones for free.
When FitNotes is the better choice
- You want a plate calculator, or a bar weight per exercise.
- You track body measurements beyond body weight.
- You want an estimated one-rep max for each lift.
- You want a different rest time for each exercise.
Common questions
Is StackUp free, like FitNotes?
Yes. Everything in the app is free, with no ads and no account needed. Sync between phones is optional and free too. The one paid part on the roadmap is a web app for the desk.
Can I bring my FitNotes history to StackUp?
Not yet. Importing workouts from other trackers is on the roadmap, and it will be free.
Does StackUp work offline?
Yes, completely. Your log lives on your phone; the internet is only needed if you choose to sync.
Is StackUp still being updated?
Yes. Every release is listed on the changelog with the day it went live, and the roadmap shows what comes next.
