Core exercises
Flexion, anti-rotation and bracing work for the abs, obliques and hip flexors.
25 exercises
The core does more than bend the spine. Crunches and leg raises flex it, but a large part of the work is resisting movement: holding the torso still against a load that tries to arch it, tip it sideways or twist it. That second job is what planks, the Pallof press and the ab wheel train, and it is the one heavy squats and deadlifts depend on.
Pick one of each kind. For flexion, the cable crunch or the hanging leg raise, both of which can get harder as you do; plain crunches are the starting point. For holding still, the plank, the Pallof press against rotation, or the ab wheel rollout once a plank is easy. The dead bug is the gentlest place to begin.
In StackUp the plank and side plank are logged by time, and most other core exercises without weight by reps. Core work fits well at the end of a session, or as the second half of a superset.
